Catching up with Cherokee Rose

Saturday, March 10, 2018

Three weeks worth of cuteness. I tell you, this pup is full of energy. She is growing too fast. This week she had her first drool. So tiny compared to Henley....for now lol. Yesterday she growled (very quietly) for the first time. She spotted the Pigeon on our neighbors garage roof. It doesn't belong there she says, and is most concerned. Today I took pics of the Pigeon, and noticed it had a band. It is a very calm bird, and I wondered if it belonged to someone. Not sure if is lost, or what. It hangs around our house all day. It lands in our yard for food and water, then flies back to the roof top. I hope someone didn't dump the poor bird. We will take care of it as long as it is here. Ok, enough of me talking. Here is our sweet girl.

Feb 17th. Out in the backyard playing with Daddy.

Trying to get Cruzer to play, and Cruzer said no. Bopped Cherokee on the nose.

March 4th. This crazy dog plays with Sylvie at our back window. The bop at each other. It's so funny to watch.

Cherokee chases the birds. She thinks this is cool.

She plays ball. Henley never played ball. Like kids, each dog is different. (ball is at the top of the pic)

Come on Dad, throw the ball

Time out, I spotted a bug

What's with her and the camera? Better get used to it Missy hehe

Plants are more interesting then posing for a picture.

March 10th

Now to give you a good idea on how big Cherokee is.
Dec. 28th. When we first brought her home

Today. Dennis had to hold her. No way I can.

Hope everyone had a good Saturday! Don't forget to move your clocks up tomorrow!

There's nothing quite like watching a pup grow and helping them develop into the dog they'll be. What a priviledge!

What a hoot! I am glad she is playing games. It is good training for hound work. I am telling you.. I could just eat her right up!!! Her markings are so beautiful too. She would love to romp in our snow here..

Thank you for the update - she sure is a beauty and has grown so much! I enjoyed your commentary as well. You made me smile as I remembered my two boys during the same stages. Brody still "asks" my Mom's cat to play (although we watch the interaction carefully as Lucky is a senior citizen and "tolerate" is not in his vocabulary.) I think he must have more than "bopped" Brody (no visibile damage tho') as Brody seems to be staying out of range.

Sometimes it would be nice if the growing into adult bodies took just a wee bit longer...
Savoring each day ... is the best we can do.
    She is such a sweetheart.
    Did you take measurements ???
    how tall at the shoulder?
how long nose tip to tail tip?
    how much she weighs ?
I bet there were some really big jumps in the numbers
yet from day to day, hardly noticeable.
growing babies, furry or not, you really need to pay attention or the get all grown up before you notice it.

Such a sweet looker! Puppies are an incredible amount of work, but so worth it. A big responsibility too, training them to be sociable in this world. Enjoy this time!

My goodness your lovely puppy has grown. Love them when in the curious stage, noticing things and needing to smell here, there and all around the yard. She sure is trying hard to be a companion to the kitty. Fun when they can play together. Your so right how different two dogs of the same breed can be different. We found that out with the two Shelties we had---total opposites in many ways.

my goodness, she has grown. she is beautiful, just love those long floppy ears. it is so much fun to play ball with a dog that loves to do that, especially when they bring the ball back.

thank you for the update on Cherokee Rose.

    Have a wonderful Sunday.

I noticed the ring on it's leg, it may be on a race... sometimes they get blown off course on their way home. In New Zealand the pigeon fanciers would put cages on trains and take them to the point they had chosen to let them go. It is amazing to see them coming in to land at the loft after flying all day... wonderful birds.

They take the rubber ring off the leg and put it in a time clock, then press down the button which would stamp the time on a paper circle with the time they returned. It is probably a lot more electronic these days :)We did lose a few if there was a storm, sometimes they would rest up and then come home a few days later.

A lot of care and training goes into raising a good bird :) hope he/she gets it's bearings and flies home. Though on second thought you are a wonderful carer of animals maybe word is getting around :) !!!

    Have a wonderful day :)

Love the photos of Cherokee Rose :) she is growing fast !
