My Go-To Breakfast

Here is one of my "Go-To" breakfasts and why I love it:

Oatmeal w/Flaxseeds, Cinnamon, Banana & Raisins or other fruit, such as Blueberries or Strawberries or whatever I have on-hand (and a tsp of Truvia brown sugar blend) & a Clementine, Orange, or other Fruit:

OATMEAL: High in Fiber and Protein, Soluble Fiber Beta-Glucan, Antioxidants Avenanthramides, Lowers Blood Sugar and Cholesterol, Reduces Constipation, Weight-Loss Friendly

FLAXSEEDS (Ground): Packed with Antioxidants and Minerals, Improves Digestion, Fights Cancer (binds to estrogen receptors to reduce estrogen activity), Improves Brain Health, Supports The Immune System, Promotes Weight Loss, Fights Diabetes, Improves Skin and Hair, Lowers Cholesterol, High in ALA

CINNAMON: Antioxidants, Anti-Inflammatory, Protects Heart Health, Fights Diabetes, Protects Brain Function, Lowers Cancer Risk, Fights Infections and Viruses, Protects Dental Health, Benefits Skin & Hair

BANANA: Loaded with Essential Vitamins & Minerals (Potassium, Calcium, Manganese, Magnesium, Iron, Folate, Niacin, Riboflavin, B6), High Fiber, Heart Healthy, Ease of Digestion, PowerHouse of Nutrients

RAISINS: Relieves Constipation, High Levels of Catechins (Prevents Cancer), Reduce Hypertension, Control Diabetes, Treat Anemia, Promote Bone Health

TRUVIA: Not good for you at all, but it adds a yummy sweetness to the Healthy Oatmeal emoticon

    Hello Veganist! I'm not quite on the vegan wagon but have been vegetarian for just over 6 years and many meals are vegan. What a difference this has made in my life. Hubby became vegetarian by default as I told him I wouldn't be cooking ANY meat and quitting dairy as well (still eat eggs) and he has totally embraced the lifestyle now. Nice to meet you, like this post!

    I would add chia seeds rather than flax. I also had breast cancer and am to avoid flax and soy.

    I love making a fresh batch of muffins each week .... Have one egg with the muffin; just recently started (after coffee of course) .... making a fresh glass of juice: cherries, pineapple, carrots, raspberries .... w/ a dab of beet powder for circulation (and energy i have found) ..... Later i always have a glass of Green drink.
    I do wish i could eat oatmeal at times, but always i am hungry one hour or less later ... It seems to burn off fast ... oh well.

    this looks amazing, and i like all the ingredients i am familiar with. i am going to check out ground flax seeds(health food store, or any decent market?) my nutrition challenge for myself this week is to slow down and actually make a sit down breakfast at least once lol! loved all your notes on health benefits of each food- some i knew, but i learned one or two factoids that i cant wait to share with/annoy my grown kids -haha! it is so cold here this morning that i wish i had all the stuff to do right now!

    I, too, love Oatmeal with Blueberries or Raspberries or Bananas. I also found a good recipe here on Spark for Muffins with Flax Seeds. It makes a big batch, so I freeze them for future breakfasts. I do eat eggs and have them hard boiled or poached.

    My favourite thing is a Green Monster Smoothie. Almond milk (unsweetened), natural peanut butter, cinnamon, spinach & banana blended together. I throw in flax or chia seed as well. And coffee. Of course coffee!
    I love smoothies because mornings are insanity in my house. Easy to eat on the go and super fast. If I get a weekend pick, I'd say a California benedict (English muffin, tomato, avocado, whatever fresh herbs I have). Still working on a good egg-less benedict sauce though. It'll come!

    Mine is almost a copy of yours. I add chia seeds rather than flax as flax makes me very bloated, 2 tbsp of natural peanut butter, sometimes unsweetened cocoa powder, some hemp hearts on top and underneath a banana and berries. No sweetener and just a splash of soy milk. Perfect fuel to start the day! emoticon
