Foods Best Left Alone For Me

I am always googling, researching, processing, applying and seeing and sometimes forgetting what I learnt and the added benefits or identified reasons to stay away from certain foods due to various symptoms I have.

This has been a very frustrating at times journey because there is soooo much conflicting information out there, do this, don’t do that, eat this, don’t eat that, so I finally decided to slow down and truly listen to my body.

Still a work in progress, but I now know, without a doubt that the following foods are foods I personally need to stay away from:

Sugar (still a work in progress)
Gluten (much improved)
Cayenne (so sad)
Various night shade plants
High starch/carb foods
Some nuts (moderate allergies, specifically peanuts and walnuts)
Shellfish to a degree
Milk (varying degrees of being lactose intolerant, but along with allergies seems to depend on my threshold and overall health at the time)

Mostly, the above foods in their various forms contribute to inflammation, chronic pain, joint pain, irritable bowel syndrome, fibromyalgia type symptoms, thyroid imbalance type symptoms, brain fog, mood swings, low energy, fatigue, insomnia, an unhappy hoo hoo and overall an overly acidic body environment.

May be more that aren’t jumping to mind right now, both foods and symptoms, but that’s a fairly good summary for now.

I was convinced I may have fibromyalgia, but concluded those symptoms were mostly due to stress.

I was convinced I might have a thyroid imbalance or maybe diabetes, or a failing liver or kidney or this or that.

Lol... I’m not trying to self diagnose, I’ve had cancer in the past so I’m just really keen on trying to understand why my body hurt(s) soooo much along with many of the other symptoms while taking into consideration the body parts I am missing.

And honestly so many symptoms cross over from one possible diagnosis to another... which led me to the personal realization of a common theme about many ailments across the board along with recommended food diets... that I can’t quite put into words at the moment.

So... anyways... lol.

I finally got the courage to sort this out with a family doctor over several visits and tests.

Guess what?!?

Everything came back negative!


But argh... what the hell is wrong with me then, why do I hurt so bad, why do I feel this way?

So, through a process of elimination we were able to conclude that my body was too acidic and I simply need to listen to my body and stay away from certain foods, specifically acidic ones...

Well, guess what... I came to both those conclusions prior to seeing the doctor. But it sure was nice to know I’m healthy according to them... lol.

And... it motivated me more to keep going in the direction I was headed.

So along with eliminating or reducing the intake of above mentioned foods, along with introducing more of other certain kinds of foods, such as:

Apple Cider Vinegar
Coconut Oil
Baking Soda
Lemon Juice
Lots of good veggies, and
Decent amount of proteins

I am finally starting to feel a shift, but I still have some more discipline to acquire.

I’ve also been intrigued by the Keto Diet so I’m going to take more time to learn about that, but so far it seems to cross over widely with other diet recommendations like thyroid or celiac etc and the type of diet I feel I should be eating without knowing it had a name... lol.

So, that’s me in a nutshell when it comes to food and how my body feels.

I started on this journey over 10 years ago, still ever learning and evolving.

Such as life :)

And why it was almost disappointing not to be diagnosed with a certain condition, because then I could have focused my time and energy on that... but thus the process of elimination and sorting out what is best for me continues.

Ultimately I just want to be healthy... mentally, physically and spiritually.

    I too have concluded that heavy carbs and sugar increase my inflammation. Keto helps a lot. Sugar is an enemy of mine and keeps knocking at my door.
