You Know You're Having A Bad Day.......

when the afternoon before the settlement on your old house, the buyer decides she wants to make changes the contract. We were moving all of our stuff out of the house into a moving van. Hubby said no and I agreed. She never showed up in late afternoon for the walk through.
We left several pieces of furniture that we were going to get rid of. In January, she asked us if she could have them. We said sure. We thought we were being nice.
This morning we arrived for our 10:00am settlement, about 20 minutes early. We signed the documents that were there and left. We get a call around 2:15pm saying that the buyer had just finished the walk through (which she told us just had to be done the night before) and she was disappointed at the condition of the house. She decided that she didn't remember ever having had a conversation about her wanting certain pieces of our furniture. According to her, the house wasn't empty yet. She didn't know whether or not she could go through with the sale. Rather than argue with the crazy woman we told her it would be taken care of immediately. After only one and one half hours, my hear hubby and a group of volunteers went over there with a truck and stripped the house clean of anything that wasn't in the contract. I had purchased extra furnace filters to help her get started. We threw them in the trash. All of the leftover house paint followed the trash to the dump hazmet area. We donated the furniture to a worthy cause, which was the plan before she told us that she wanted it. The buyer did sign the papers at a late settlement in the afternoon. Our realtor helped with the cleaning out process and was there to witness that the house was immaculate when the volunteers left.
My poor hubby has spent two days dealing with people who wouldn't or couldn't keep their word in regards to this house. If my dear friend Slenderella61 hadn't asked us to stay with them last night, I don't know what we would have done. Now it is finished. We are at a motel near the place we will go for our next closing tomorrow morning. The front desk at the motel called up to our rooms at 4pm, to tell us that the water has been cut off. Here it is 7:45pm. I will give them two more minutes and then, I'm going to go downstairs - walker, back brace and all - to see if the water will be turned back on. I'm tired, hubby is even more tired and we really can't deal with this right now. At least the plumbers are here trying to fix the burst pipe. It has just been a day beyond description!
