My great American dream

Monday, February 19, 2018

Many years ago now, I fell for this GI in the army. He gave me high hopes and two beautiful daughters. We came here in the eighties. We were poor, I remember looking at a pie in the frozen food case, wishing we could afford it. But we had to buy milk for the baby instead. Bonus: I was skinnier than ever. I layed down my citizenship and became an American. My DH lost his job, I worked, he drank. Baby #2 came along. She had a heart defect. I still remained strong for my girls. We went and saw Lee Greenwood. Just the girls and me, to hear him sing: "I am proud to be an American.." But going back, over the years, people question me, attack me, over what makes me still being here. For one, my kids and grandkids are here. My life. I don't have much else on my resume. I work the nightshift, in a box plant. Sometimes pain relievers are what keep me moving. My ex payed me the grand sum of 0 Dollars child support. But I pray now, more than ever. That's why I liked @Olderowls blog "Pray for America". Check it out! Make every 3. Sunday positive!

Most of the time, our children are what we live for. I completely understand. Take care.
