Well, it’s the flu...

Thursday, February 01, 2018

I thought since I didn’t have congestion or body aches that I just had a rotavirus... but my doctor, after listening to my description of onset and type of symptoms said it was the GI version of the flu... she checked my electrolytes, and while most are toward the bottom of allowable limits they are all still within those limits, so she said I don’t need IV fluids or anything... she did prescribe Tamiflu and some other stuff... to treat the worst of the symptoms while the Tamiflu starts working... I have dropped almost 12 pounds since Tuesday night/Wednesday morning, which concerns me, but the doctor didn’t seem alarmed, so I am just going to keep an eye on that, but not fret over it. I have some pedialyte and some jello, to go with my Cheerios (which I am still eating plain )... hopefully the medication will ease the grip of the bug. As for the migraine? The neurologist said that they can’t treat the migraine until the flu symptoms are gone and we see if the migraine breaks with the absence of flu symptoms... I can however take more of my regular migraine medication in the meantime... up to 6 tablets over a weeks time... which I was not aware of before... so I am going to try that before winding myself up over the ongoing pain... I am going to do my best to stay out of the Er... they’re overwhelmed with sick people right now, as the flu is hitting this area pretty hard. (It seems to be pretty widespread actually). I should be fine with time and medication... I just have to keep pushing fluids continuously. Can I just say... this is NOT the way to lose weight... there is no sense of empowerment or accomplishment...
