Just a quick blog

Tuesday, January 30, 2018

Just to say hi, and that I haven't gotten lost in the barn or something! Stuff is so much harder in the winter. I spend an afternoon down there shoveling out and driving the wheelbarrow out that when I get done I am exhausted. Selling eggs on the hill is exhausting too because it is so cold most of the time.

Today I had a call from a neighbor that wanted me to look at his cow, she is pregnant and not quite ready to calve. He was thinking that the calf may be dead, because there is no rebound when you bump the cow. She is not ready to calve, her cervix is only about 3 fingers, I had reservations about the calf being dead because it looks like the calf is lying low instead of on one side, in which case you could not bump it. The cow is not in distress, or as not in distress as a 9 1/2 month female can be. The decision was to watch her closely. After I got home I was thinking about me lecturing a farmer and his daughter on cervix dilation, seemed right at the time, but weird! You just never know what your day is going to bring!

Having a hard time getting photos to my computer from the phone so I am just going to show you a OOAK clay sculpted baby doll I picked up on Ebay, she was just so cute I couldn't resist!
