I wouldn't say it is for everyone!
I wouldn't even say that I would do it again.
On December 27th, I was at a family Christmas gathering and a cousin... had recently come off a 19 day fast. She felt great and had lost a significant amount of weight. To be honest I had been doing some intermittent fasting, watched webinars and read blogs about fasting, but never thought I would do anything over say 48 - 60 hours. However, after talking to her, I decided I was going to start the next day.
So, I did and I did a water fast for 21 days straight. It was not a completely legit "water" fast because I did have cream in my coffee 2x a day most days.
I lost 16 lbs in 21 days... which is kinda slow, but I am older, and I have probably messed up my metabolism over the years.
I had been eating so poorly and really needed to kick sugar and carb cravings. I had hoped it would help with tinnitus (ringing in ears), and pain.. but didn't really do much there.
Since I came off the fast, I have been much calmer about my weight loss. I have regained balance, portion control, I drink much more water and I drink much less coffee.
The strangest thing was I wasn't hungry. I missed eating, but I wasn't hungry.
I had a few tough days, a few weak days, but I always had the energy to get done what I needed to in a day.
We saved a ton of money on groceries and eating out!
I had thought at one point that I would go to Day 30... however, I think because I had my brain wrapped around 21. I hit 21 days and I WAS emotionally DONE!
I'm so glad I did it. I will probably never do as long a fast again, however, honestly it makes me feel like I can do anything I set my mind to!
That was phase 1... I am on to Phase 2 with 20 more lbs to lose. Phase 3 will be maintenance, which has proved to be the most difficult for me!
