Running Into 2018

One of my #8in18 goals is to run a race every month. That means I have to start running again. I KNOW, HOW OBSERVANT OF ME. :)

Last year I only did 2 races all year, and I haven't really run since the second one last September.

So I did my first 5K in January, on a ridiculously stupidly cold day, and finished in 31:59. Not a PR but a very solid performance for me.

Now I've signed up for my February race, a 10K. This race is:

1. Feb 3rd, the coldest part of the year.
2. A solid 2 miles longer than I've run in ages.
3. The day after I get back from an overseas trip.
4. In one of the hilliest regions around here.

I'm not sure I'm ready for a 10K seeing as how I haven't run more than 4 miles in 6 months, but whatever. I'm sure I'll finish it, even if it's not pretty.

I'm going to attempt at least 5 miles this weekend to see how my untrained legs do (and then get on a plane out of town. what could go wrong?!) but in any case I'm registered for the race and have friends applying the pressure so BRING IT ON.

No other progress to report on my 8 goals other than I've been slacking on the food side and not meeting my calorie goals as often as I should. I'll get better, I promise. But probably after this next work trip sadly.

    You'll do fabulous. As long as you train in the cold weather, your body will adjust. Enjoy your trip overseas.

    I'm sure you'll do great on the 10K. I like to say: if I can do it so can you! I still can't manage a sub-40 5K but somehow rocked my last 10K. Just enjoy it!
