Someone once told me

Wednesday, January 24, 2018

Someone once told me that life is meant to be lived, not endured. I think I have lived too much of my life enduring it. Trying to survive the ups and downs. The hard and difficult times.

And overeating or eating the wrong things has been part of that. Reaching for the comfort of food to stay calm, relax, cut the boredom isn't living. It's part of enduring.

I want to learn to let go and relax in life. I think it's slowly happening. These days, I jump on the treadmill, or write, or get out into nature.

Life's been hard. Sometimes too hard, and too lonely. I grew up with no family and that has been what I've always hungered for. I have my own family now but so often I find myself wishing I had that extended family, aunts, uncles, parents, sibs.

I need to let that hunger go and embrace what I do have.

Someone once told me don't endure life, enjoy it. I think that's good advice. I think I'm going try that.

Happy day to all of you.

You are so right. Enduring life and not appreciating each day is no way to use our time.

Good for you for being intentional on changing your perspective! Embracing - being grateful for - what we DO have changes our focus. And we often have a lot more than we realize!

There is blood family but there is also the family that one creates through friends and close ties in communities. I bet there are some wonderful older folk you know that are just like aunts and uncles and friends like sisters or brothers. emoticon I found some of those here on Spark! - Blessings - Alicia
