Not sure how long since my last check in. Winter is always brutal for me and this one was the worst yet. I’m on my 9th day in bed after my back going into spasm while I was, wait for it....standing up from a chair. It had been coming for a long time. My body is a wreck to the point I can’t work it out alone. I’m back to getting massages. Once a week until I am able to move on my own again. I just can’t afford more than that. We got two smart TVs, one for my room and one for the living room. It will make it much easier if I can start exercising again to watch the videos instead of trying to do it on my iPad. I just can’t go on like this anymore. All is not bad though. On Black Friday I ordered an Instant Pot (IP) electric pressure cooker and it is slowly changing the way I eat again. I’m able to make my own broths, soups and spaghetti sauces for healthier than drive through meals. One of my big cooking problems was scorching my soups because I can’t get up and down a lot, or stand for extended periods. I also use it to make an amazing drink I call my anti-inflammatory tonic. I drink 16 oz of it a day. It is basically water infused in the instant pot with fresh ginger and turmeric, thyme, and cinnamon stick. After pressure release I stir in raw honey, lemon juice and 1-2 oz cherry juice concentrate. If I have fruit that is to the edge of its durability I will throw that in too. Strawberries and blueberries are good. I did pineapple once, it wAsnt terrible. It even tasted pretty good the time I added a shot of coconut rum. So I’ve stopped and started so much in the past that today I am setting no expectations for myself. Today I am here. Today I thought about MY health and MY needs. A friend told me yesterday all our actions begin with a thought and my thoughts today came out in a positive way in the end, despite its disastrous beginning. I am happy with today.

It's been awhile since you posted this blog. How are you doing now? Hope you are feeling better and making progress. It's not fun living with pain. I understand about having trouble getting up and not being able to stand long. It does limit time in the kitchen.

Hugs. Do what you can. Back issues really put the kibosh on activity.

I can so relate to your feelings! Am happy to see you are here and have not given up in spite of health challenges and pain. I haven’t found the ‘secret’ to losing all my weight in one continuous period, but have kept plugging along and picking myself up again. You have that fighting spirit that means you can do this, even when it seems so difficult.
Love your instant pot ideas! May have to get one.
Wishing you a successful & healthy 2018! emoticon emoticon
