A Few of My Favorite Things, Kitchen Edition, Part 3
Saturday, January 20, 2018
I've had a few folks shake their heads when I tell them my favorite thing I put in my kitchen when we built the money pit - I mean - House, is my sink. The counter is great (man-made quartz that doesn't require hot pads for hot pots), the cabinets are beautiful (not as functional as hoped because the drawers are soooo much smaller than the cabinet fronts), and there are a ton of outlets (except on the island. What gives?!).
But the sink! It's b-i-g, big! I can fit my biggest pots and pans in it and still have room to maneuver. My cookie sheets and jelly roll pans fit in the thing - laying flat! I can stack dirty dishes in it - and you can't see them from the front door because it's so deep. Because we have an automatic dishwasher, I seldom wash plates and bowls and glassware by hand any more. So having a sink big enough to wash that 12 quart pot or 18 quart bowl in is phenomenal. And useful.
I suppose I could have gotten a farmhouse sink, but they weren't as readily available back then. Actually, this sink was a special order item, too. But I like the false drawer fronts that came with the sink cabinet because they got turned in to drop down drawers for my dish scrapers and steel wool. So, yeah, I think the best part of my newish kitchen is - the sink.
