There Are Other Ways To Track Success Than by the Scale

Last week, my blog was a featured blog. That's a first! I made a few new friends and felt happy to inspire others.

I am two weeks into the new year and I’ve only lost 1 pound. Oh well oh well oh well… Yes, I am practicing my “Beckniques” - the teachings of Judith Beck who tells us that weight loss has more to do with what we think than what we eat. And that is one of them…. Don't get upset over what you can’t control. Instead, I’m looking at the positive steps I’ve taken:

I’m exercising regularly again, 12 of the last 14 days. Big credit! (that’s another Beck teaching, give yourself credit for the positives, to build confidence).

I’ve tracked each day’s consumption in the morning for 13 of the 14 days

I’ve planned weekday dinners ahead of time for the past two weeks, in order to avoid going out and eating too much too often.

I’ve packed salads for lunch most work days. Good salads with roast chicken, avocados, chick peas, hearts of palm... I like to mix it up...

I’ve resisted cravings...often. By reminding myself why I want to lose weight. By telling myself I can have the treat tomorrow, if I still want it and plan for it.

That’s a lot of positives. If I keep doing these things, I will get where I want to be. Just a reminder ….

This week, I have meals planned:

Monday: Chili
Tuesday: Birthday surprise - DH is taking me out! So, no planning for this one dinner.
Wednesday: Won Ton soup
Thursday: Chili again
Friday: salmon

And more batch cooking next weekend. I enjoy cooking when I have time, so this is a good thing.
