It's almost been 3 years since I was at this point

When I first joined SparkPeople I would have been dismayed to be at my present weight. At one point I had lost over 10 pounds from my starting weight, but over the last 12 years, my weight slowly climbed to the point where I weighed 35 pounds more than when I first joined.
But I am really happy now! Why? From that top weight, I have removed 5%. Yes, I still have more weight than I did when I joined. But I am finally doing the right things again rather than just reading about them. The last time I was at this weight was in May 2015.
I have learned that I cannot trust myself to have candy around the house. It is easier to say NO once in the store than to have to have candy easily accessible. Cutting out desserts (or limiting them to once a week) and increasing my vegetable intake has given me the results that eluded me for so long.
I have learned that I don't usually need snacks for energy. Most of my snacking was due to boredom. I eat extra vegetables at meals. If I need a snack to tide me over, I pick fruit or vegetables rather than a granola bar or chips.
I feel better, so exercising is easier. I have more energy, so moving is more fun.
I am eager to see what the rest of the year looks like.
