The 3 D's of Apparition applied to weight loss and healthy lifestyle

I listen to audio books all the time, it doesn't bother me to re-listen books, actually it is sometimes better to be listening to a book you can fill in the missing parts if you get distracted, although I am supposed to be listening to them to avoid distraction.

Well, where is this all leading to? I often listen to the Harry Potter series, and yes they have their faults but sometimes a particular line hits a note. When Harry and his friends start Apparition they have an instructor from the Ministry of Magic with the unlikely name of Wilkie Twycross. His constant reference to the 3 D's of Apparition cause a lot of resentment to the
friends trying and failing to accomplish Apparition.

The 3 D's are Destination, Determination and Deliberation. A Quote from Twycross explains the 3 D's thus: " One must be completely Determined to reach one's Destination, and move without haste, but with Deliberation"

It occurred to me while listening the other day the same 3 D's can be applied to losing weight and transitioning to a healthy lifestyle. Many people fail in losing weight because they are not completely Determined, or because they are not really picturing a Destination that truly matters to them, and of course we all know that losing weight or changing your lifestyle to a healthy one requires you to move without haste but with Deliberation.

Of course if you fail at Apparition you may get Splinched, Splinching is an unsuccesful apparition causing you to leave body parts or clothing behind. Splinching may be minor such as when Ron left behind a half an eyebrow, or as serious as when he lost a big piece of arm muscle causing a big loss of blood. If you do fail at one of the D's of healthy living you may not leave behind visible parts but you do lose something, this causes many to give up.

So next time you falter in your goals remember the 3 D's!
