While Reddit's "Fatlogic" board cannot and should not be mistaken for one of those safe spaces with soft lighting, puppy videos, blankets, and tissues to mop up the tears, I'll admit it's therapeutic in its own way.
Think a daily listing of the BS, excuses, nutritionally crazy celebrity "diets," "fat and proud" types who project more than a movie theater and are convinced that the way to change a light bulb is to stand on a ladder with the bulb in place (since the world revolves around them), the weird combination of superiority/inferiority complexes, the "all or nothing" thinking (either binge or starving - no moderation), and quack medical "advice." Having them in one spot helps to see just how alike they all are. (And most of the folks there are on a weight loss journey themselves)
And a reminder of the excuses help in preventing me from using them. I catch myself saying some defeatist slogan or other questionable excuse, and I remember that I saw it on r/fatlogic.
