January 8, 2018 A NEW LIFE

Sometimes new is a little scary. When we get a new job, it takes time to get to know the company policies, the employees, and the actual work we have to do. When we get into a new relationship, we are a little cautious about what we say and do because we don’t yet know the person very well. With anything new, we treat it a little differently than we would normal treat it because change is involved.

Maybe it’s the change that is a little scary. Even becoming a believer of God requires we change. But that change will bring many blessings and promises. We can begin our new life with God by practicing what He calls us to. We are to read His word, have faith in Him, and obey what He calls us to do. When we choose make a change in our lives to follow God, we can be sure He will be with us to help us as we change.

SCRIPTURE:
2 Corinthians 5:17 “This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!” (NLT)

ACTION STEPS:
1. Write when your new life with God began.
2. List the things you have done in your new life.
3. Know doing God’s will is what He requires of you.
4. Ask Him to help you and be ready to make a change.

PRAYER:
Dear Lord, we know if we want a new life with You we first have to accept You as our Lord and Savior. We know to belong to You means we are giving up our old lives and starting with new lives. We are so grateful for the new life and new opportunity You have provided to us. Help us to know we are to work hard in this new life learning more about You, telling others what You have done for us, and living in obedience to You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

REMEMBER:
When we decide to live a new life for God, we shouldn’t stand idly by when wrong is done.

A new life in Christ means we are moving away from the things of the world and choosing God’s way.

When we give our lives to God, we will want to do His will.

If we truly belong to God, we will want to do what He calls us to do.

If we truly have faith in God, we will want to do the work He has given to us.

FOCUS:
James 2:26 “Just as the body is dead without breath, so also faith is dead without good works.” (NLT)

When we have faith in God and do good works for Him, we are living the new life God gave us when we chose to believe in Him.
