Confession: Must Reach For The Prize Set Before Me

Trouble comes in all sizes and at the most unexpected times. I have been challenged for as long as I can remember with all kinds of challenges. Physical, emotional, family, marital, sibling, ministerial are some that have taken residence at my door step. Notwithstanding the challenges, I look back over my life and realize that God has shown me unmerited favor over my life. Because of that I am still standing. Bent but not broken! Haven't been able to return to my usual exercise routine because I have been cautioned not to by my doctors. Frustrated doesn't seem to be a strong enough word to express how I really feel. Today I read a blog about someone over scheduling her tasks. My question to her was, did she forget the importance of me time. After saying that, I asked myself this question: have I scheduled time to do what I need to do to achieve my goals. The answer was I had not. Another realization occurred to me. I may not, for now, be able to do what I was doing but I can do something to get back on track. 10 minutes is all one needs. When I say that, I recoil because I want to get back; no be back to doing 6-8 mile walks daily, regardless of the weather. I look at my stationary bike with agitation because that is not what I want to do. I want to hit the pavement!!!!

Having said all of this, I am reminded that all it takes is one step at a time to start a journey and reach the journey's end. So, starting today, this evening at 9pm EST, I am going to schedule things I can do to get back to my fighting posture. It may be slower than I want but it will be a step in the right direction, for me. All of those who have encouraged me and for all of you I have encouraged over the years; and, not let me forget those of you on Garmin who engaged me in healthy competition, I thank you. My Garmin friends I am coming for you! As Arnold said, "I'll be back!" And, right shortly. The Prize that awaits me is worth it. That prize is "Healthy."

    Listen to your doctors. Ask if you can do some chair or arm exercises to start. They may want you to lose some weight before you start exercising to avoid injury.
