A/C issues...NOW?

Saturday, January 06, 2018

So, who… you ask, could possibly have, or care, about air conditioning issues now…in this deep freeze in much of the country, and freeze and frost warnings all the way down to SW Florida, which is where I write this? ME! You may think I’m nuts, but down here, when your car sits in the sun all day, even if it’s cold out, the car may warm up quite a bit…which is what happened to mine the other day on a particularly warm afternoon- it got all the way up to 50, Woo Hoo! This year I actually got to try the seat warmers – I laughed when I first got the car. I said, “That’s one feature I will NEVER use!” Well, the car was very warm inside Thursday (probably around 75 or more) so I put the a/c on just to cool it down a bit and lo and behold…no cool air! I was tempted to ignore it, but it is supposed to warm all the way up to 71 for a day or 2 next week…a heat wave! Then back to what we’ve been having like everyone else…freezing temps!

It’s also true that I just plain run hot! I’ve been sleeping at around 60 or so. It’s cold if I’m not under the comforter but I love it!

We all had a good laugh at my mechanic. He thinks it may be leaking Freon, so he had to drain it, test it, clean the unit and refill it with Freon and a dye so he can tell where the leak is if I have to bring it back in a week or longer. Of course, the past 2 weeks he’s had lots of panicked people whose heaters weren’t working, but I was the first with a/c issues.
I got out of there for under $140 and I won’t be charged again if I bring it back for the same issue. I love this guy! The worst of it was that it took more than 3 hours. There’s my excuse for no errands getting done today!

So don’t worry, SFriends…I won’t be without my A/C for the rest of the winter, LOL.
PS: According to weather predictions, my seat warmers will be on tomorrow and Monday.

Hugs and stay warm SFriends!

Lol! I laugh at people here (northern Canada) who insist on using their A/C in their cars. It is -10 (c) here today with a windchill of -18 and I had my car window open.

I agree with you about the seat warmers, and here in the North, I'm also glad for the steering wheel warmer. I love, love that feature even more than the seat warmers.
You're very fortunate to have a good mechanic and that the cost wasn't too much!
I think we're all looking for warmer weather.
    Hugs SFriend!

I am so glad the cost wasn't too high. I think you have a great mechanic. He probably loved being able to work on something besides heaters. You kept him on his toes. LOL

I love heated seats!! But I also love A/C when you need it. Hard to believe sometimes that we grew up without all that climate control. Other than raising or lowering the window anyway.

Sounds like you're just ahead of the rest of the crowd! At least your seat warmers work. Glad it wasn't worse, expense-wise. Have a good Sunday and stay warm!

You just never know, do you! Glad it wasn't major like the compressor. I had to replace that in my Jeep, not pretty. emoticon

LOL!! I thought you might be out of the coolant that runs the A/C or maybe there isn't enough humidity in the air so that the A/C can run right. I hope it isn't a leak. My hubby fixes those for people. They can fill the coolant at Autozone and places like that for just the cost of it. When it is cool enough I just open the windows as I am warm by nature too. I also like 60 degrees at night. I find it hard to sleep if it is hotter than that.

I love my heated seats in this terribly cold weather. Glad it wasn't too expensive. Hope it's fine now.

That's funny. Glad the cost wasn't more though. Nothing like a good mechanic. emoticon
