Retraining My Taste Buds

I was fortunate enough to grow up in a household that provided me with many different food options. From the vegetables that were on our table every night to the fruit that was in my lunch every day. I was surrounded by both healthy and unhealthy choices. What I did not realize was that those options (sometime mandatory) were training my taste buds to appreciate and prefer those foods. Fast forward another couple of years, highschool I got to make more of my own decisions. Pizza was easy and convenient at school. It seems like from then on everything went down hill. I prefer pizza over most anything, even my once beloved salads. They have become unappealing and unappetizing. I now have to retrain my taste buds into preferring what is good for me. Which means I am going back to my childhood days of a vegetable every night with dinner and a fruit every afternoon with lunch. I am allowing myself few exceptions to those hard and fast rules. Such as, I was sicker than a dog the past few days and did not have a vegetable with dinner. Slowly but surely I will retrain my taste buds to wanting to the healthier things for me. I just need to take it one step at a time.

    Sounds like a good plan. Pizza and brownies are my downfall, but I've been doing much better, you will, too.
