January 2nd... first real day of retirement

Tuesday, January 02, 2018

I hope everyone had a wonderful New Year celebration. Hubby & myself did the usual... toast the new year about 9pm, hubby went into bedroom to read & I stayed up & watched the CNN New Year’s celebration with Anderson Cooper & Andy Cohen. I was very disappointed with that pairing. Not nearly as funny as when Kathy Griffin was with Anderson. I know, I know, Kathy Griffin is taboo right now but she was hilarious with Anderson in the past years.

So back to topic at hand, First day of retirement. It doesn’t feel real yet. It still feels like I’m on a holiday break from work. Hubby keeps saying that it will take a long time to really adjust.

I’m planning on taking some time to decide what direction I want this next chapter of my life to go. I’ve worked for the last 40+ years in a job that was really great some time and not so great the rest of the time. This next phase needs to be meaningful to me. And I won’t settle for anything less.

Congratulations on your retirement! Yes, make it meaningful - it will last for the rest of your life :)
I took all of 2017 off from being employed. It was something I had always wished for. (I'm not at retirement age.) I learned a lot about myself during that year. Happy self discovery! Enjoy!

I have been retired for several yrs. with early retirement. It's been busier than I ever thought it could be and loving the travel we do. I do several volunteer jobs through the holidays which leave me no room to think. But having fun in the sun is the life! Congrats on your retirement and enjoy it!!

Retired in May at the end of the school year. It still feels as though I'm on an extended break. I thought I would catch-up on my to-do list. Farther behind than ever. I keep wondering how I worked full time and stayed on top of everything.

    Enjoy your retirement!!

I think people need to let up on Kathy Griffin. Lots of people don't like her but just as many people don't like Donald Trump. She is a comedian and not every joke is funny to every person. If we don't like someone then we can feel free to ignore them.

I am so happy I retired. I miss the people I worked with but not the job. Retirement can be whatever you want it to be.
