Annual New Year's Day race
Tuesday, January 02, 2018
Did my yearly 6.2 mile New Year's day race with my sister at Salisbury Beach here in MA. Brutally cold and windy. 0 degrees, wind chill -8, 15 mph gusts. Speed walked it since I have had to give up running due to knee surgery almost 3 years ago. Still did a good pace, 12.24 min miles though I wish I could run again. I used to quite well as a runner before my injury. I have had to come to terms with the fact that I will most likely never run again. I can still get out there and do my best. I am not getting any younger either, I will be 57 in April so I feel good. I am already registered for another 10k in March and then a half marathon in April. Here is a picture of me getting my feet wet after yesterday 's race. The water was 44, warm, the air was frigid. Usually I do a full body plunge to ring in the New Year but the race directors didn't want that this year due to the weather conditions. Best wishes on your new year goals everyone.
