Happy New Year!!!

Like probably everyone else on this site, I am hopeful for a new year. I lost 93 pounds from August 2016 to August 2017 and as I look at January 1, 2018, I am thankful that I am 11 pounds from my goal weigh. Yes, I gained weight over the holidays -- well, there was a vacation in September, my birthday in October, another vacation in November, then Thanksgiving and Christmas. So I will take those 11 pounds because I did not deny myself! I kept up with my exercise (walking) and that had to help. This year, I will focus more on toning exercises in addition to my walking. My goal is 12,000 steps a day -- got that plus some today. Haven't started the toning yet but I am logging my food. Feeling good! I have to say that I wouldn't be where I am without SparkPeople and I know that this year I will meet my goal of maintaining my weight loss. I have struggled with my weight forever and I am proud of my accomplishment of losing -- however, I have found that it is easier to lose than maintain. When I was losing -- I followed the Ideal Protein protocol -- I knew what I could do and did it. Now I feel that I am out there on my own. I have an addiction to sugar -- if I limit my carbs to almost nothing, I am good. But like an addict, when I add those carbs back -- the white carbs I love -- I have a hard time saying no. So, this year I will discover the balance in my life. To be honest, balance has always been an issue for me!!! emoticon
