And the Year Begins
Monday, January 01, 2018
The sun rose this morning, and, after pushing through a bit of fog, promises a good day for walking in the park, and along the beach, stopping at an oft visited coffee place, and taking mass transit home. 2018 is opening with a distinct lack of drama which I hope it maintains for 365 days.
My goal for the year (and the month, week and day) will be to pay attention to where I am, and then try to consciously decide whether to remain there, or move off in a different direction, and then take a specific action confirming that choice. So, while a walk of 2-3 miles on mostly flat terrain is a positive thing I can look forward to doing with my wife, there is the gnawing issue of intermittent low back pain which my physician is not much worried about ("take Tylenol - see you in a month") but which affects my enthusiasm for climbing a flight of stairs, walking just a block, or even standing in the kitchen cooking a New Year's Eve dinner. Good news: sometimes there is no discomfort at all. I now notice such intervals.
Which leaves me in a "Getting Things Done" frame of mind. For now something simple and positive - I'm going to assemble a Christmas Tree album of photos taken of holiday decorations around town. Remembering this sparkling beauty brings a smile to my lips. Then I have to pack for a few days of pure vacation relaxation. Would be nice to manage that.
