Most of us have at some point or other said, "I'll start my diet on Monday." Most of us have also made a New Year's Resolution to lose weight. Today is Monday, January 1st...HERE'S MY SIGN! LOL!

In spite of telling myself for weeks, and as recently as yesterday, that I'd start over on January 1st, this morning the devil on one shoulder spoke loudly in one ear... "you're still on vacation...why not start tomorrow when you go back to work?" This was immediately followed by a much softer voice, almost a whisper, in my other ear..."um...seriously?"

I went in the bathroom and got on the scale.

I tracked my weight and set a goal for February 5th, the first Monday of the month.

I made ate, and tracked a healthy breakfast, and now I am posting this blog. I have also posted this on facebook:

I have heard of people choosing a word for the new word to put their focus on their goals for the coming year. My word for 2018 is...

I like this quote:

I'm inviting all of you to start with me, right now. It WON'T be easy. You WON'T be perfect. You WILL have setbacks. Life WILL throw you curveballs. People who claim to love you will attempt to sabotage you. Others will claim to be supportive, but you will know they don't believe you can do it. Maybe you won't believe it either.

There will be donuts in the office break room. Boxes of chocolate on Valentine's day. Birthday cakes. Vacations. Significant others who eat junk in front of you all day, every day, and offer to share their junk food with you. You will want to, and sometimes you will, but that doesn't mean you have given up. It means you are human and you made a choice that was contrary to your goal. Guess what? It's not the end of the world or the end of your journey. It does NOT make you a failure!

You can make a new choice at the next opportunity. The fact that you are here reading this means that you want to make those better choices, and you want to support others in doing the same.

Happy New Year y'all...let's make it a great one!
