January 1, 2018 GREAT HABITS
New beginnings. Goals for the New Year. Fresh starts. We all have them at some point in our lives. The New Year is a time when people think about change. They look back on last year and decide what they want to do differently in the coming year. Some do it. Some don’t. What makes a change happen isn’t jumping right and expecting to do it perfectly from the start. What makes a change happen is knowing it will take time and practice. Remember: practice makes perfect.
Let’s bring in the New Year knowing we have to create new habits doing God’s will with practice and not expect to be perfect on day one. It takes careful focus and determination to keep practicing God’s will but it is possible when we put our trust in Him. Getting into His word, praying, and obeying Him will help us to start great habits for the New Year.
Nehemiah 10:29b “They solemnly promised to carefully follow all the commands, regulations, and decrees of the Lord our Lord” (NLT)
1. Write some changes you want to make in your life.
2. List the things you need to begin doing that are God’s will.
3. Know it will take practice and determination to do them.
4. Pray asking God to give you the strength to continue to do His will.
Dear Lord, we know we are not perfect by any means. We know we have good intentions to read Your word, go to church, and obey You. However, we fall short at times doing what You call us to do. Help us to take it one day at a time and know You will help us put into practice what You call us to do. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Let’s bring in the New Year knowing we have to create new habits with practice and not expect to be perfect on day one.
Practice makes perfect but not when we give up. We have to start and keep at it daily.
When God calls us to do something for Him in our lives, we are to begin with practice and prayer.
It takes determination and will power to do what God calls us to do. We should practice daily doing God’s will for our lives.
We need to study God’s word and put it into practice in our lives.
Luke 11:28 “Jesus replied, “But even more blessed are all who hear the word of God and put it into practice.” (NLT)
We are blessed when we put God’s word into practice.
