morning cuppa spark - clean slate

...and that was 2017... it ended in a whirlwind of putting the house back together after two weeks of house guests. down with the tree, washing machine going all day long. folding up fold out beds. i managed to hit well over 15,000 steps without even going for a walk! and 24 flights of stairs! poor claire only got a couple of frisbee outings, we didn't even take the morning walk with her.
another impetus for cleaning up was our neighbors coming over for an early visit, but we are all fuddy duddies and they left by 8 - not even new years on the east coast yet! by the time we had cleared up, it was 9 and that was new years on the east coast and off i headed for bed. which was fine, except that poor claire was jolted awake at midnight here by the fireworks. i managed to fall asleep again, only to be awakened shortly thereafter by my alarm for work, having forgotten to turn it off. oh well. after a moonlit walk for claire, i'm back at the computer in the wee hours, finishing up some projects from 2017.
2017 was an active year -
about 500,000 more steps and 800 miles more than 2016!
and yet, i managed to find some of the lost pounds, climbing beyond scream weight. clothes still fit, but not as comfortably. happily, i've returned to happy weight range, thanks to the beck trek reboot this fall - and maybe some of those extra steps and miles. now to keep it going.
for today, meals are planned. the activity will be packing - we had hoped to leave for seattle today, but we are nowhere near ready despite our efforts yesterday. so we will get the suitcases by the door, and take off early tuesday. we have to reach seattle to be in time for a farewell dinner for our DD and DSIL - they are moving to stockholm on wednesday! and thursday we head out to molokai. claire too! i've enjoyed the snow, but it will be awfully nice to put on my hiking flip flops instead of my hiking boots...
