morning cuppa spark - the number 4... or, hunger is not an emergency...

Saturday, December 30, 2017

it wasn't exactly planned, but that is what happened yesterday - after breakfast at 5 a.m. (a bit on the late side since i had been up working since 1 a.m.), i practiced "hunger is not an emergency" until dinner at a restaurant at 6 pm. what happened in between? a three-hour white knuckled drive to the greyhound bus for DS and granddaughter to return to seattle. it wasn't white knuckled because of the driving conditions for us, but because we thought leaving three hours for a two-hour trip should have been generous, given the snow. however, slow drivers along the way showed we should have left four hours... luckily DH was able to safely pass a few and we made the bus with about 10 minutes to spare. we then drove leisurely home in the snow, stopping along the way for claire's final vet appointment before next week's trip to molokai. and when we got home, we realized that we'd better fire up the snow blower if poor BigBro is to get out early today to take that same drive down to the airport to fly first to seattle, then back to the east coast. as usual, DH cleared the circle by the house, and i cleared the drive up to the road - uphill. good exercise! almost hit the 15k goal for the day, but was satisfied just shy of 14,000 by the time i went to bed. as i pushed the snow blower in the final hours of the afternoon, i realized that in just one week i would be walking on the beach - quite the change when we look back next week!

as for the number 4 - when i changed to go out to dinner (after cooking for everyone all week it was lovely to have an evening out at our favorite local pizza restaurant!) the scale said 104.4. now i realize that isn't going to stay that way, but still... and to be honest, it felt good to be in control, to know that i can handle hunger, that snacks are not necessary. and i did enjoy every bite at the restaurant last night, guilt-free:-)

meanwhile, i did the video in the night, 360 abs. and about to do one now...

much to be done in the next few days!
