Christmas Ups and Downs
Saturday, December 23, 2017
Many of us experience ups and downs at Christmas. My negative yesterday was while having a facial. I had this same experience once before. While my eyes are covered with a hot towel, I had a panic attack. I was able to calm myself down after a short span of time. The first experience was worse. I actually went into the fight or flight response. (The fight or flight response refers to a specific biochemical reaction that both humans and animals experience during intense stress or fear. The sympathetic nervous system releases hormones that cause changes to occur throughout the body.) It is tough. I am fine now. It is just something that happens when you have a lot of anxiety.
Today is another day. We had family over to celebrate Christmas. It was the only day that we could all get together. It was a major success. We had lots of food, gifts and laughter. Holidays are the best. No matter what you eat or receive as a gift, it is the bond that we have with family and friends that makes everything special.
Tomorrow hubby and I will enjoy a nice dinner out. No matter where we go, I will be so thankful that he is with me. I no longer have my mother and father on earth. My brother lives hundreds of miles away. My hubby and I will spend the day together. I really don't need anything else. It will be a quiet and intimate Christmas Eve.
