Job Offer??? Bath remodel saga

Thursday, December 21, 2017

Good News! I called my septic guy(George), he gave me another guy(Keith) at bellview pump. Keith came and told me Lowes (@$3500) was nuts. 2 of his guys came monday night and uncovered the pipe and figured out what they needed to complete the job. Tuesday morning ran new pipe from septic to house, added a cleanout at the house and raised my septic lid so I will never have to dig it out again. I helped with the digging and recovering the hole. The guys even back filled in all that DD and I had dug and now my yard is looking better without the huge hole and mound of dirt at the back door. Less than $1000 was the estimate. Haven't gotten the actual bill yet. Oddly, everyone is related. The neighbor Jim (electrician) is brother-in-law to Dalton(excavation) and Keith(bellview pump) is married to Dalton's sister. George is one of their cousins and they all went to school together. I feel like I am part of their family. Honest men working to help their families and community. Faith in humanity restored!

Another God blessing??? I am starting to wonder if the guy from church who fixed my garage is gonna send me a bill. I told him I wanted pay him before he did the work. I texted him twice about paying him, and I am still waiting to pay him. The work has been done for 3 weeks!

Anthony(Lowes contractor) hooked my washer up on Monday afternoon and did some more work. Came back tuesday and got all the pipes connected and concrete work finished. Concrete needs to dry/cure today, no work. I have no idea when the bath will be finished since I require to be home when they work, helping in every step and I go back to work on Saturday. I learned how to connect PVC pipe and mix and pour concrete yesterday. They don't work holidays or sundays but are willing to work with my schedule. Maybe by spring???(#sarcasm)

I am getting a great education and workouts with all the help I am doing. They guys were confused and said they have never had so much help. I told them this is my home and no one is as invested in it as me. Besides I have been doing this kind of work my whole life. My contractor jokingly asked if I wanted a job on Monday. He was serious by yesterday evening. I made them MEXICAN TACO STEW last week and baked them healthy APPLESAUCE OAT AND WALNUT MUFFINS yesterday. I found out one of the contractors(different Keith) is a cyclist too and we are planning some future rides together. I am meeting cyclists everywhere!

This remodel is taking some strange turns and I am trying to go with the flow. Getting angry and frustrated just makes me miserable. Thankfully there is no rush to get it done and getting it done right is more important than fast.
