I wonder why we seem to think we can change a lifetime of bad habits instantly. Where did we get the all or nothing mentality when it comes to getting healthy? I guess that is why all the diet ads push for near instant results. Yes we can do anything for a short period of time but real sustainable practices and habits are slowly developed. It took me 3 years of denial, trial and many failures before I found the right combination of exercise, eating, and prayer to lose 70 pounds and still going strong. I have another 40 to go and looking back to see that I am over half way to goal is so energizing. The reality of my new life is not a struggle. It is become natural to make better choices and look for ways to add more movement to every day. It is a far simpler way of life that when I started I never imagined. I overcomplicated everything and imagined an impossible lifestyle I didn't want and knew I could never do. The reality is really simple and a little truth goes a long way. Small changes overtime added up to a lifestyle that is so comfortable and rewarding and has truly transformed me. Consistency is KEY! What I do every day is producing the results I seek. One or two in the moment poor choices don't derail the effects of good daily choices. Time is more my friend than I once thought.
