Diary of an Emotional Eater: Day 36

Thursday, December 07, 2017

Well, the my hubby and I had a blast at his work christmas party last night. I had felt some anxiety about attending the event, seeing as I wouldn't know anyone there, but it turned out to be a great night.

We lucked out and were seated at a table with some really amazing people. I think I was smiling and laughing the entire night.

It was quite a big meal, so I made an effort to monitor my level of satiety. I did indulge in one mini butter tart for desert, but to be honest - it wasn't that great! Also, there was candy and chocolate everywhere, but I was not tempted. I would simply look at the candy and remind myself of the ill effect that it has on my health and that was enough to steer me away from it.

With that said, I did log my calories at the end of the night. It looks like the major culprit was cranberry sauce! I ate 1/2 a cup of it, which turned out to be around 220 calories. Who knew?? I didn't!! My total cals for the day ended up being somewhere around 2500. I suppose it could have been worse.

Today was a good day. My secret santa left a gift of truffles on my desk. So sweet! I hollered "Thank you Santa!" of course. I ate one truffle and I will give the remaining truffles to my husband and step daughter. I know my step daughter will love them.

Other than that..not much news!

Have a great evening everyone!

Thanks for commenting guys! Yes, I logged the cranberry sauce as canned since I did not know if the caterer had made it fresh. I tend to log my food items as higher in quantity and calorie in order make sure that I am accountable for what I eat. With that said, I am goal is to improve the quality of food eat, rather than limiting the quantity of food I eat.

I'm glad you had a nice time at the party. I'm guessing it was canned cranberry sauce which usually contains a lot of sugar (I love the stuff!) . Great job on limiting yourself.
