The weather has turned decidedly chilly the last couple of weeks. I can't afford to put the heating on so I'm adding layers. I have two open fires in my house, and I have plenty of coal but sadly, I've pretty much run out of kindling and wood. The Worker Friend brought some old bits of wood up with him so we had the fire going in the dining room [where we tend to spend the evenings] while he was here.
He's gone now and the wood has pretty much run out again. Maybe enough for one more fire so I'm saving that for if it gets really bitter cold again. There's usually houses being 'done up' around here which frequently have old bits of wood outside. If you knock and ask, people are normally quite happy for you to take some. Just a case of chopping it up then. I'll have to keep my eyes peeled.
Meanwhile, this evening I made a large pot of vegetable stew. It doesn't look all that glamorous but my goodness it tastes good and definitely warms the cockles!
The Hot Shot London Barrister sent me an email today with a draft of what to write to my previous solicitor. Changed it slightly and fired it off. Believe you me, it will have really set the cat amongst the pigeons. Quite right too.
Here's Today's pic of The Tree.
And finally, tonight's advent offering:
What's Santa's favourite Pizza? One that's Deep-pan crisp and even.
