One day post-op

Thursday, December 07, 2017

My sirgery was not until almost 2 p.m., so I felt sick before I went in. The surgery only took a little over ten minutes, but waiting forover 14 hours before getting a glass of OJ was the worst part. Now I am sick because of it. Because I am not insulin-dependent, they took me last.
Today we got to my appointment early, but they had posted the wrong time for it in their computer, so instead of almost 11 , theyhad my appointment at 7:30. They thenm jsut took everybody ahead of me thinking I mised my appoiintment, so I pulled out the paperwork the woman had given us(always prepared) and the docotr apologized about it. I told him I expected it would never happen again. He then pulled my screen up and right in the exam room he looked up al of my future appointments and assured me that it will nto happen again.
I know. I won't let it.. people need to be held accountable.

My eye is still swollen and sore, but the implant and expected vision in it is spot-on. No more appoitments until Dec 13. I kope my typing is not bad, I am using one eye and it is sore.

It really sickens me how incompetent people have become. It used to be I thought it was a geographical thing. When we first moved to FL people were always so surprised that we showed up to our appointments on time AND prepared. I'm sure that was a big factor in making our company so successful years back.

Even today we have customers who are amazed with our attention to their needs in getting their furniture into our consignment gallery after we agree to represent them. We work on Sundays if it is necessary to meet their timeframes. I don't know of ANY business down here in FL that does that.

But when I went back to Iowa to pack up my elderly mother's house to bring her back to FL with us I found that her caregivers had stolen so many things from her. And the people that were paying her bills were paying $200 a month for telephone bills. I told them my mother didn't even USE the telephone...how could they squander her money that way?

I'm sure they were skimming and pocketing...it's a sad, sad thing that happens to our elders. And it doesn't matter what state we live in any more. I always used to think that Midwesterners were a trustworthy breed...but that visit really opened my eyes. emoticon

I'm glad your surgery went well...but to make you wait that long after THEIR error was NOT right!!

Glad it went well! It's really irritates me when it's there mistake - especially if they won't own up to it.

I'm happy that all went well and pray that the soreness is gone soon. That scheduling error - OOOF! I would not have been accommodating for their mistake. You did great!

Don't worry about the typing. At least that one is over. The swelling and soreness is to be expected. Rest up.

I am so sorry that you had these problems. Perhaps set an alarm to eat and then sleep to rest your eyes and alleviate the pain.

I don't know what has happened to health care. I have a bill for miscellaneous items that was submitted to Medicare. I wouldn't accept that either. This is the second time, the coding at the hospital has been screwed up. I was using a cream and they billed it as a prosthetic. It is unreal.

The surgery doesn't take long but getting that far has been a pain for you, and it just continues with recheck. I was so fortunate I guess.

Oh my gosh! glad you said something to the Dr. The person who made the mistake should definitely be held accountable!

BUT on the good side, glad your vision is spot on!! That's the most important part.

    Rest up!

Hope you're feeling better too. That's horrid to be made to wait 14 hrs. without food nor drink. They should have made allowances for your very late surgery time!

But know I'm singing to the choir on that one!
