Little Red Hats
Tuesday, December 05, 2017
I'm still not able to sit at the computer, but I can get some things done on my Kindle and on my phone. I have an app on my phone called Flipboard, which you can customize to get news articles about the things you're interested in. One of my categories is Knitting.
The American Heart Association has a special program called Little Hats, Big Hearts which is a program designed to raise awareness, provide resources and support, and spread information about congenital heart defects.
The goal is to knit red hat's for babies born with heart defects. The yarn must be red, must be cotton or acrylic, medium to heavy weight yarn, and must be machine washable and durable.
The deadline for this year is December 31st. Donations for 2019 will be accepted starting August 1.
Hats can be mailed to:

When I went to Hobby Lobby this morning, I picked up 2 skeins of red yarn. Since my heart surgery (5 bypasses and an aortic valve replacement), I have a special connection to the American Heart Association. If you like to knit, and would like to participate, the hats are shipped to hundreds of hospitals throughout the country. I'm looking forward to knitting baby hat's!!
