5% challenge finale... and a heart attack
Saturday, December 02, 2017
Today I finished my 5% fall challenge. I didn't met my goal (missed it by .9 lbs!) but I am proud of myself. I still lost 10 pounds and I am SO close to Onderland. I sense a very exciting week ahead for me. haha
How did I do it? "some" smarts and a whole lot of stress and anxiety. I don't recommend this method.
DH (42) had a heart attack on 11/18. That's right.. he's 42..TOO YOUNG. There's is a family history, but not this young. Scared the daylights out of both of us. He had a full blockage in his LAD artery. And FYI.. that artery... it's called the Widow Maker. How nice. Praise Jesus they found it early. He was released from the hospital looking and feeling good on 11/20. ON THE WAY HOME... he passed out on me. Took him to the nearest ER and spent another 2 days in ICU. No real strong opinions on what happened except maybe his enzymes were still high from his heart attack. They noted they were low on the 18th. I'm not a medical professional and I don't work in the medical field, so I just have to take their word for now.
DH was released (again) on the 22nd and was home for Thanksgiving. I can assure you that, that was a very stressful drive home. I kept looking over at him to make sure he was alive and conscious. We have a long list of new meds and an even longer list of do's and don'ts for food.
While DH does have a family history of heart problems, his doctor told us this was very much caused by not managing his diabetes.
So, we're at home with a new lifestyle. Still trying to figure everything out. We've gotten some conflicting information from different medical professionals as far as eating habits, so more research is on the horizon.. and obviously a new menu.
In the mean time, we got new fitbits (thank you Black Friday sales) and DH is doing FANTASTIC at getting steps in. Going back to work this week though, so that's when the struggle really begins for him I think.
Now onto some research!
God Bless!
