another week post beck trek; number 3, i think. looking back, i followed the rules pretty well. eat sitting down, slowly mindfully. planned meals daily (and even if it changed later in the day, there was never a day we didn't have a plan we could have used). most importantly, i stayed away from the "not my food" issues. no chips, no cheese, no crackers. no "it won't matter". no " i don't care". i tracked what i ate fairly well. an occasional nut grabbed from the nut bowl, but no slippery slope. have to watch that...

the scale post thanksgiving restaurant meal rebounded and... i am now seeing the number 5 for the first time probably since spring. the number on the scale that was the lowest of the day not too long ago is now the highest. beck works.

i completed the 30 day weight loss program that jessica smith has, and started the first 2 days of her 6 week transformation program. actually picked up the 5 lb weights for the first time in... a long time. survived. no running, but on some of the walks i am feeling i can power up hills.

DH finally got on the scale and he is not happy with his weight. when i try to make suggestions about what he eats, he is not happy with me. he blames it on lack of aerobic exercise for him, which is certainly true because he only gets our walks, while i have done at least 30 minutes a day of some kind of aerobic or weight training exercise daily. which means, that he now wants to push harder on the walks (we have too much ice and snow to start running again at this point). which i won't complain about - we took an extra 2 mile walk before dinner yesterday. so this can only help me. and him:-) and meanwhile i will continue to feed him healthy plant-based meals and hopefully he will fill up on what i feed him, rather than adding his bread, cheese, crackers, chips. we'll see.

challenges ahead - today we drive to seattle where we will be facing restaurant meals for the next few days. but hopefully walking too. i've got my strategies lined up, planning where and what to eat in advance.

We are each responsible for our own life. My Dh and I think very different about our health and I try really hard not to say anything but sometimes it just happens.
Sue, your Dh at least is working at being healthier......that’s a bonus.

You are doing great! Beck does work well. I've managed handling emotional eating much better since this most recent Beck Trek. It's not 100%, but it is much, much better than in the past. Gotta keep working it.

    Safe travels to Seattle.

He could try a Spark video OR free weights, too.....maybe, he will come to believe that the junky stuff simply is not worth it. You are really doing quite well post re-Beck - emoticon on the “5” !

I just love it when a husband blames his wife for his inactivity. If he is anything like mine, he is also upset with "suggestions". Maybe he'll follow your example, maybe even secretly read Judith Beck. Then you can share a religion.

Men have to figure out their own way, don't they! But you've got your plan and have healthy foods you prepare. That and the extra walks are a good start!!!
