Devastated... Another reason to live healthy.

Wednesday, November 29, 2017

Today started like any other day...

Breakfast
Work (till 4:00 pm)
Get cleaned up
Dinner

My original plan after dinner was to exercise & get things ready for work tomorrow before sitting down to a good book.

Then, I received the 'dreaded' call nobody wants to hear... My best friend, age 39 (turning 40 in less than a month) had a 'minor' stroke & is in ICU in the hospital. I received the call from her boyfriend (another friend of mine).

Hearing the news, I was devastated... Shocked. My friend & I have known each other for over 20 years (& oh, the memories). During that time, I was always the thinner one of the two. Still am. We've been through everything together. And now, this.

I can only hope for full recovery... With therapy & time, it can happen. When she does recover, my goal is to help her find her inner (thinner) self... I'll do whatever it takes.

(NOTE: This is not the over-weight friend I mentioned in a previous blog who has all the health issues (diabetes, severe asthma, allergies, foot / knee problems (problem walking), failing pancreas, etc.)

The health issues between both friends has increased my motivation to drop the weight & live a healthier life. In the process, I'll be able to help the one (who had the stroke) but probably not the other (because she's in denial & will not listen to anyone's advice about it - weight loss).

I am so sorry about the bad news about your friend. With work and therapy she can get better and possibly back to the life she had, one day at a time.

Wish the other one would listen to you before it is too late. Our health is so important to us and we need to get on top of health issues that are happening to us.

She knows that you are there and will help her at the point where she recognizes the need for help.
Good luck to you in encouraging both your friends and at the same time keeping yourself on track. You won't regret it.

    Keep Sparking.
