Masai Mara - the Ol Chorro Conservancy

Monday, November 27, 2017

This was another amazing trip, where we watched an epic battle between 2 lionesses with their cubs and 1 Lion, about 60 hyenas, 2 jackals and 1 marabou stork, who all wanted to get their share of the warthog the lionesses had hunted.

Day 1:
Tawny Eagle
Lion, young male
Impala Buck
The Rhino and I
a sleepy leopard hiding in the bushes

Day 2 - the epic battle early in the morning
it started as a nice family luncheon
some unwelcome dinner guests
the fight begins
nope the lion wasn't welcome either
the hyenas are winning but not without a fight
Mr & Mrs Jackal also wanted a share
The marabou came for the leftovers
This hyena with her half grown young took off with the biggest share while others were still fighting

Other pictures from day 2 & 3
another Leopard
another lion family
Banded Mongoose
Masai Giraffes
Cape Buffalo
2 very sleepy lions, they kept nodding off
a watchful cheetah looking for an easy kill
lots of Dikdik - the smallest antelope
lots of Hippo
lot of birds everywhere.

It was another truly wonderful safari and we were spoiled rotten in the upscale Fairmont Mara Safari Club.

I hope you enjoyed your arm chair travels with me
