This is the first Thanksgiving in a very long while, when my husband and I will not be sitting at a table loaded with delicious turkey and dressing and other goodies -- either at my house or at a family member's house.
Our two sons and their families with be with the 'other grandparents' this year - so my husband and I are free to do what we please.
We are going out - with my husband's sister and her husband - to a lovely French restaurant nearby. We may or may not order turkey. (Of course, it will be on the menu.) Afterward, we will go back to our house for pies (bought from a local farm market) and ice cream.
I am not cooking anything at all.
So there really is no reason - or excuse- for me to overeat.
Our guests will be spending the night with us - and perhaps will stay a couple of days. There are wonderful craft shows within driving distance, and we may take advantage of them. I love buying unique handmade items as gifts.
I particularly enjoy the creativity and ingenuity that is on display at craft shows.
It is too bad that the Thanksgiving holiday has been taken over by SHOPPING for the upcoming holidays.
I believe that it is very important for all of us to take time and give thanks for all that is good in our lives.
Of course, being here on Spark People has taught me to express gratitude every day.
And I do.
And today I say, thank you, my Spark friends for sharing so much of yourselves. Thank you for sharing your goals, your strategies, your struggles, your successes, and your determination.
Thanks for being there.
Happy Thanksgiving, with hugs to you all.
