Tis The Season!

Saturday, November 18, 2017

I see too many focused on a "diet!" This is a life journey. I used to yoyo for almost 10 years. I was 260lbs, lose 29lb then say I got this and slowly slip back up again. It wasn't until I learned a Healthy Lifestyle means a life journey!

I've been on SparkPeople now since 10/10. I hit my goal weight on 5/16/11 and started looking for challenges in running then, in 2013, became a Triathlete. I started to fuel clean and got better at it. I won't quit SparkPeople! SparkPeople is a PART of my Healthy Lifestyle! In the last 7 years, I'm proud to say, I've done some amazing things I could never have dreamed of doing. "I will never be able to do that" is no longer in my vocabulary!

I'm actually going to a Thanksgiving Buffet as I am confident I will do the right thing and NOT look at buffet as a last meal trough!
56 hours later, I will do the Space Coast Marathon Relay with my Triathlon Relay Partner. We want to podium this race so I keep in mind to fuel smart as I don't want to add to my payload when I run!

Yes, I play mind games ... AND THEY WORK! I will be playing "reindeer games" through the holidays! Be fearless, stay positive, remember "moderation' & "portion control," and enjoy the season!

Have a Bunch of Healthy Holidays!
Monty

Your running experience is so different in Florida. No podiums here in California. No announcements of overall winners or age group winners. We simply look up race results on the computer and get in line to pick up our award (assuming we placed), after the results become official. I've only run 4 races though.

I returned to racing today. I ran this particular race three years ago. Today, I ran it faster and I placed in my age group. :-)

Thanks for reinforcing what a doc board certified in obesity as well as an internist told me---just remember to eat half of what would be a normal portion for you (in reference to the family Thanksgiving dinner). Your attitude is inspiring, will try to remember what you stated. I wish that I would have come upon this wisdom earlier in my life, but it's never too late to learn new things.

emoticon emoticon I need to learn to have healthy foods to grab when I'm watching the little ones. It's too easy to grab whatever is close to hand

You have really found the right path and I congratulate you on that. Becoming a triathlete is pretty darn impressive. I have watched some of my children over the years run marathons and even crazier things (my youngest so did a 50 mile run last year) and I have always thought "I'll never be able to .....! But this year, for the first time EVER, I will be doing the Turkey Day Trot with 2 of them. It's just a 5K and I will be walking, not running. But I am confident that I will be able to do this 5K, in the cold Minnesota weather, without any difficulty.

Thanks for your positive message. I am working hard on my own 'lifestyle' change. Tonight for dinner I took some leftovers and made a tasty soup out of them - enough that I will have lunch tomorrow too. My husband came up and said "wouldn't pizza be more fun". Well, he needs to eat healthier too!

Good luck to you for your Marathon Relay.

Yes, I feel pretty comfortable with the holidays and the food as well. Just remind myself NOT MY FOOD (for those things that aren't healthy for me) and nothing tastes as good as healthy feels.

Looks like you have a plan... and Florida doesn't really have an "off" season, do you?
