Starting from scratch...again

Thursday, November 16, 2017

So...the more into my 30's I get the more I realize I need to get my butt into shape, and no, I don't just mean fitness. I need to change my lifestyle, I've known for years but every year, every day I say - "tomorrow I'll start being healthier...I've already eaten like crap today so what's the point of worrying about it now". Well, tomorrow turned into next month, turned into Next year and something has to give or I'm afraid I'm going to literally eat myself into an early grave. I tracked all last week and this week and already feel better, like less greasy, if that makes sense. NO fried food, pork and limited beef, but I'm still eating foods I enjoy. This time it's going to stick...it has to.

Here is the core of my food plan, it is an idea from Dr. Joel Fuhrman. Get the most nutrition per calorie.

In other words your body needs nutrients (so get those) and you probably want to loose weight (so cut calories). This means getting the most nutrition per calorie.

Sugar has zero nutrients, not vitamins, no minerals, nothing, but lots of calories. So sugar gets you nothing your body needs. Then if you want to get your vitamin C (for example), look at what foods provide more vitamin C per calorie. What do you know, green peppers have about 4 times the vitamin C per calorie consumed compared to oranges. I eat green peppers in my salad.

This way of thinking guides you to healthy choices, and why. I'm happy to chat via spark mail anytime.
