monday--catching up

Monday, November 06, 2017

hi! haven't blogged in a few days. let's see--all three brie bakers are done and I have switched back to cylindrical forms now--throwing bottles. I was very pleased I was able to look at a couple pictures and throw forms that were a pretty close match to what I saw. I like bottles. bottles and pitchers I think are my favorite forms.
dorijane had an odd event that happened one day--may have been some really mild seizures caused by a medicine. she is fine, but I had a big panic attack and took her in to the chiro vet to make sure she hadn't hurt herself. he adjusted her spine and did acupuncture on her and drew a blood chemistry. haven't heard back on the blood yet. but she seems to be "herself" now, so that's good.
weather over the weekend was SO lousy--at least we didn't get the severe storms that farther south got, but it was dark, dreary, rainy, foggy--just generalized BLECH. what's good is that we got quite a bit done in the barn--Saturday we put up the vapor barrier on the ceiling--which went remarkably well--we used a lot of our work tables to walk on and eliminated a lot of up and down on ladders. then yesterday we began hanging the 4 x 8 Styrofoam panels, which are going to serve as our ceiling. they lay right on top of the dropped ceiling that my dad had framed in. we have to cut out for the lamp outlets (sometimes went smoothly, sometimes not). but all in all, the process was pretty straightforward. we got 7 of 20 panels hung. found one leak and maybe one smaller one that didn't get sealed when I did the roof--it's on a part that I did not do, so I have to sweep that section free of pine needles and seal it--then the roof should be tight. so a good amount of progress in there.
AND I got on the scale on Saturday--and I was down 3.5 pounds. it's been about three weeks since I weighed last--and the previous time I had ticked upward--so I am 3.5 pounds down from that higher point. a little over 5 pounds from my "first" goal weight. that made me happy. we have recently added apples (1/2 of a fruit always with a protein source) and low carb tortillas. rob's new favorite meal is a cheese quesadilla with bacon and tomato. sort of a Mexican grilled cheese sandwich. he lost another pound this week, so he is solidly into one-derland now. I notice he has upped his activity--walking at home in the morning and sometimes in the evening too. I think he would like to bump the weight loss a little higher. but he is continuing to drop weight and is quite comfortable with what he is eating now. so even if the rate of loss holds steady, he is fine with it. today I sent a tangerine with him to work--to see how he tolerates that. it's another fruit we can add in now.
and kellie's card is done and ready to send out. here is a preview--the setting is the gate that leads to their new home. the three dogs are charlotte, the Sussex, carley the clumber seated and hobson the one on the ladder.

think that just about catches me up--hope everybody has a lovely Monday!

Whoohoo, good for you both there! Hoping dear Dorijane will be ok and not have any more issues like that. It is so hard to have our fur babies be hurt or sick and not be able to do something. Hugs.
