October 30, 2017 SERVING OTHERS
When we believe we are too good or too busy to serve others, we are living a proud life. When we think we have more important things to do in our own lives than to serve others, we are missing the point God wants us to see. The important things we need to do in life ARE all about serving others. Serving self does not give us opportunities to share God’s word and does not help others know more about Him.
Deuteronomy 28:47-48a “If you do not serve the Lord your God with joy and enthusiasm for the abundant benefits you have received, you will serve your enemies whom the Lord will send against you.” (NLT)
1. Write about some you know in need.
2. List the things you could do for them.
3. Know God wants us to be cheerful givers.
4. Seek to serve God and others with joy.
Dear Lord, we want to live to serve. We want to move away from focusing too much on ourselves and we don’t see the needs of others around us. Help us to be more aware of opportunities to serve. We know serving is important to You and should be important to us as well. We want to serve with gladness and give cheerfully to others. Help us today, Lord. Show us Your way. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
God wants us to serve Him and others with gladness.
If we think we are too important to help others, we are not do anything important at all.
We are created and called by God to serve others.
If we aren’t serving others, we aren’t truly living.
God wants us to be cheerful givers.
2 Corinthians 9:7b “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.” (NLT)
To give cheerfully means we give without hesitation or regret.
