I love NSV's. (For those who don't know, that stands for Non-Scale Victory.) For me, an NSV is always more exciting than a number on a scale. As a matter of fact, I do not even own a scale.
Fourteen weeks ago, my husband offered to start doing yoga with me 3 times a week. I quickly took him up on that offer, because I was ready for a change. I think I was probably the heaviest I'd ever been at that point. Since I don't own a scale, I can't tell for sure. But I was about to burst right out of my size 3X clothes. It was either lose weight or buy new (bigger) clothes.
So I started doing DDP Yoga with my husband, and I made small improvements to my daily diet. And I really do mean SMALL improvements. I was taking baby steps. My main focus was on doing those workouts with my husband. It was very hard at first because I was so out of shape, but I just told myself to aim for progress, not perfection. And I didn't miss a single workout, not even on the day that hubby and I had such a bad argument that we weren't speaking to each other when it was time to start our workout. (But we were best friends again when the workout was done.)
I don't know how much I weighed 14 weeks ago, and I don't know how much I weigh today...but I do know that it is noticeably less. I've had some awesome NSV's. I can see a difference in the mirror....my face is slimmer and my waist is too. I notice the change in the fit of my clothes. I'm down from a TIGHT fitting 3X to a perfectly fitting 2X. I notice in the way I feel, too. I have more energy and less aches and pains. My husband is proud of me, and that means a lot. But what means even more to me is that I feel proud of myself. And that feeling will help me to keep on taking those baby steps because they will eventually take me to my goal.
