wednesday--vet visits and roof painting

Wednesday, October 18, 2017

good morning. two vet visits yesterday--dorijane for her monthly chiro tuneup, and a quick trip for ralphie to get his kennel cough vaccine. it's so nice--they are given orally now--no more sloshing them down their nostrils. with his short face--that was really uncomfortable for him.
started painting the barn roof--we are using this aluminum based paint. stirring it was a total adventure. I used the heavy duty corded drill and a mixing paddle. needless to say, with my weak hands there was solvent and paint and aluminum everywhere before I got the hang of it. basically turned a decent pair of pants into work pants now--coated my shoes in it and myself as well. there wasn't enough "goop" hand cleaner in the world, but I got it off eventually. then I had to clean out the washing machine with goo gone to get rid of the residue in there. looks like my technique is going to work--and I was able to get about 3/4 of the roof length done just standing on the ladder using the extension pole. paid for my ladder time later with a terrible cramp in my calf in the middle of the night. it's better now. will work on another section today--hopefully the part that leaks the worst will be done by this weekend before it rains again--then I can see if I actually fixed the problem or not. we tried the paint on a sample of the roof and it seemed to fix holes, so fingers crossed.
time to head to the park now--pottery and starting on kellie's Christmas card design is on the agenda. have a great day!
