Beck Trek 2017 - Day 12: Practice Hunger Tolerance

I'm diving right in today and skipping lunch. I've got my discomfort chart all set. This will be an especially challenging task because we are having a very late supper due to DH's work schedule.

My discomfort chart:
0-watching a baseball game
1-being late for work or an appointment
2-sitting through a long, boring presentation
3-having antsy legs on a long car trip
4-getting lost in Chicago
5-having to "hold it" until the next potty stop
6-dealing with a lingering injury
7-doing taxes and FAFSA
8-having a migraine
10-That Really Bad Day

The Hours of Trial are over. Here are my observations.)

time - current level of discomfort - range of discomfort over the last hour
noon - 3: quite hungry and grumbly - range:1-3 constantly aware of hunger
1:00 - 3 : same - range: 0-3 sometimes forgot I was hungry
2:00 - 4: more grumbly and noticing hunger more often - range: 0-4
3:00 - 2: must be in a hunger dip, I was a lot hungrier 15 minutes ago. range: 0-4
4:00 - 3: I'm really hungry, but not all that uncomfortable - range: 0-4
5:00 - 4: I'm still really hungry and more uncomfortable because my stomach is growling all the time. range: 1-4
6:00 - 4: same as an hour ago but more irritated about it because it's been going on for hours, range 2-4.
7:00 - 5: DH has been delayed, so supper won't happen until more like 8:00. I'm SO hungry and, honestly, the hunger never goes away. range: 2-5
8:00 - 3: I'm about to cook my supper and am being very careful not to overindulge.
8:30 - 2: I'm still hungry after having finished my 556-calorie meal. I'll wait a while to see if my brain catches up with my stomach.

But, as you can see, I lived through being hungry for most of the day. So, it can be done even in the face of office cupcakes, Kiddo #2 eating lunch in front of me, and my usual 4:30 Hour of Weakness.

    wonderful. Oh I lived all my life in Chicago suburbs, and had that experience of getting lost near the Museum of Science and industry. OMG! Lots of teens hanging on the street corners, not playing nicely! Was SOOOOOOOo glad to find my way outta that (I was with a girlfriend . . . we felt terrified)!

    Such a good example of the chart. Thanks for the modeling. I am finding that once I start eating the cravings start and I am more hungry than I was when I sat down to eat. What! is! that! about! Here I was patting myself on the back for doing the exercise and skipping a meal even though it was not at all convenient. Plus I had no trouble with it. Hunger? Bah. But once I got gong...look out
