Introduction to my Weight Loss Journey

225 pounds... the highest my weight has ever been in my life. I stepped on the scale, read the number, and felt the wind be knocked from my chest.

Three years ago I watched my weight go up and began working out and had to stop when I had hip surgery.

Two years ago I watched the scale jump from 160 to 180 and vowed to change when a woman asked my new boyfriend and I when our baby was due...but I was in a new relationship so I was "allowed" to eat out on dates.

Then last year I watched the scale jump from 180 to 211. Again, I vowed to change. I began working out and watching what I ate and got back down to 198... and then I hurt my knee so I stopped working out.

This year I went to Florida for a week and didn't care what I ate or drank because it was vacation and when I got home the scale had moved once again.

I know these all sound like excuses...and they are. I know I need to take responsibility for my actions. I look in the mirror now and I am disgusted in what I see. I have always been chubby and it just seems to be getting worse and worse.

My brother is getting married in 8 months and I want to look my best when I stand as a bridesmaid. That isn't the only reason for my need to change though. I have a bad back and hips and the extra weight only worsens the problem.

I am hoping that by creating this blog I can hold myself accountable for the food I put in my body and that amount of exercise I perform.

My goals include losing 80 pounds in the next year by watching what I eat and doing what exercises I can. I think forward to the future, and I want to feel beautiful when I walk down the aisle someday. I want to be able to strengthen my back so that I will be able to carry and play with my future children. I am predisposed to diabetes and don't want to become a diabetic.

I am not good at getting these things out because it is uncomfortable for me to discuss. I am so self conscious about myself and am nervous to post this. If you are still reading, thank you. I hope you all stay tuned for future updates.

I start my change tomorrow. I have breakfasts and lunches planned for the week and am unsure what I will do for dinner.

Breakfast:
2 hard boiled eggs
1/2 cups grapes
1 turkey sausage patty

Lunch:
Chicken noodle soup
unsweetened applesauce
Sugar pod peas

Snacks:
Weight watchers cheese stick
sugar free jell-o
Sugar free pudding

If you have any encouragement or tips, I'd love to hear them and I'll try to do the same.

Goodnight for now :)

Holly

I am reading this in Sept 2018 after your good news today. Add 40 some odd years to your story and it is me. I did really well for awhile on Spark and then due to family problems I really fell off the plan and need to start again. I know excuses!!! I am hoping your story has kick started me. Thank you! And congrats on your success. emoticon

We are all in the same boat. There will be days you fall off don't beat your self up about it. Just do better the next day. The key is not to give up. If anyone tells you that they never mess up they are lying. Make one change at a time and when you get it down pat make another and so on and so on.
;You can do this. We can do this. One step and one day at a time.

You have taken the first and hardest step, holding yourself accountable. You can do this. I'm new to SP too, but not to this journey. I lost 65 lbs. ten years ago, kept it off for two years and then let the weight creep back on until I'm the heaviest I have ever been. I'm recommitting to this journey and I'm here to cheer you on. We can do this!

Welcome. I am a newbee, too. I am focusing on only one day at a time. Have a 41 day streak going and am really enjoying Spark. Good luck tomorrow, then start AGAIN on Tuesday. You CAN do this. The scale always manipulated whether I lost weight or not. If I had a good loss,I could reward myself with food. If I did not lose as fast as I thought I should, I would give up for a while only to gain back more than I had lost in the first place. This time I am not weighing until Christmas. Can tell my progress with how my clothes fit. Staying positive. Reading the successes on Spark keeps me motivated. I wish you the same success.

Sp is the way to do it.

We find it amazing how great our results can be by following the suggestions of SP. Including the consumption of water.

I have tried everything for 30 years and always yo-yo'd back and forth. Since Jan 1 there has been over 30 lbs lost.

It all begins someplace and you just started there.
