What happens at 2 AM apparently stays at 2 AM

So, way late last night, or this morning, as it were, I typed out a blog post, saying stuff about how that new med might be working, or I might be experiencing a positive placebo effect, as I'd made it to the gym 4 times last week, and again on Monday, and was planning on going this morning (which I did!), a sustained rate of getting to the gym that I hadn't achieved in quite a while. But apparently, I failed to hit the "Post Blog Entry" button, and all those bits of wisdom faded into the ether. Alas. But, since a stopped clock is right twice a day, here I am, trying again at 2 PM, and seeing whether I manage to improve on my posting ability since 12 hours ago.

(Then again, if I fail, again, you'll never know!)

The most interesting bit of the weekend was Saturday's pickleball tournament at the gym I go to. After 15 games, I was one of the top 4 who got the right to contest the finals of my third tier bracket. The 15 games caught up to me, though, and I failed to win any of the three in that final round. BUT, as I said out loud just before the last game, I might not be in any position to win the gold medal, but I sure could decide who did, and that's exactly how it transpired, as me and my partner in that game lost less badly that I did in the previous two games to deliver him the gold (4 person round robin finale, I lost all three games, meaning each of the others won 2 out of three games, and the tiebreaker was point differential, in case the previous drivel had you going, "HUH?") Basically, I'd stiffened up badly during the wait between the last set of scheduled games and the final round. Still, I got a shiny medal out of it, for having reached the final round.

And then I went bowling afterwards, since that was the plan all along, and I hadn't signed up for the pickleball tournament until the Wednesday before. Other than being kinda sore on Sunday, that was, all in all, a fun Saturday/weekend.

So far, this week has been rather staid. As mentioned, I have made it to the gym twice, but the scale seems stuck on the number 226.4 for the last three days, which is odd, because if I'd scribbled a blog post last week, I might have wondered aloud abut how I seem to gain or lose on the order of ~3 pounds from day to day, regardless of what I might have eaten the day before, or what exercise I managed (that was true prior to this new med, for what it's worth, it's not just something I noticed in the past two weeks). I know, I know, it's not use weighing on a daily basis, but, hey, the scale's right there, and it doesn't affect the emotions one way or another, in the "Yeah, I'm fat, I know it, I'm starting to work on it for real this time" sense.

Speaking of the med, it's been two weeks, so I get to stab myself again. After the initial injection, I was fine until the next evening, when I went to a Detroit Tigers game, and the quad started hurting. Figured it was due to traipsing around in Detroit, but apparently, it's typical for a muscle to not like having a mL of liquid shoved into it. The quad was pretty sore for another day, and then that faded over the course of the weekend. Assuming the pain level will be the same this time around (tolerable), but I'm hoping for a shorter duration of soreness for Round 2. We shall see.
