Here's my latest challenge: it's physical on one hand, but most of it is emotional. I need to work through the feeling of being overwhelmed, and help my husband get the physical tasks done.
While there is no asbestos contamination in our apartment now, there is asbestos in the material used in the ceilings. As the ceilings need to be torn out to do the repairs needed due to the water damage, everything WILL get contaminated.
So we have to completely empty the living room and spare room before an environmental company comes over to do the "asbestos abatement"; but they may not be here for weeks, and we'll only get a one day notice (call at 5pm, here the next morning) when they ARE coming. They'll have to rip out both ceilings completely, and the carpet in both rooms and the hall.
However, they only do the removal part; once they're finished, we'll have to wait for a contractor to be approved and scheduled to put in the new carpet and ceilings. In the meantime, our lives will be turned upside down!!!
I don't know how much access to our apartment we'll be allowed to have, and as difficult as it will be to not have a kitchen, not having a computer or internet access will be awful!!! Right now, we're mainly feeling stuck - but we're slowly working out the whats, hows, whens.
If I'm suddenly GONE for awhile, you'll know why!
Take care, Elizabeth
